Boys to Men programme!! A shout out thank you to the individuals and Lions Clubs who sponsored the 16 candidates, R1000.00 each for this weekend. You made a life-changing investment in a young life.
Listening to some of these precious souls, huge fundamental shifts. What mind blowing ‘statements’ from these young men, to the audience of Lions, parents and siblings. Boys who went away insecure, disempowered, cocky, angry or a combination of these. They came back empowered and changed, supporting each other, able to embrace the future and their feelings. Each young man spoke honestly, from the heart. Parents who saw a diffrence, a change in their kids. Thank you Charles Flanagan of the Lions Club of Tokai, for bringing this worthwhile project to our attention.
We are all emotionally wrung out, not a dry eye in the house…..even the tough guys. May more Lions Clubs support this project and witness what we all saw tonight. So proud of one special young man, who spoke clearly, stood up a little straighter and has learnt much about himself!!

Seldom has a name better conveyed the power of its intention. To escort Boys to Men is an entrusted expectation of society and has been for millenia. Sadly, we have failed too many of our boys….. who then grow up to be broken men. I applaud Boys to Men. Every life they touch echoes out to a family and a community. It brings wholeness and hope and from what I have seen, a quiet determination to be the very change we all so wish for in our country. We need a country of strong, not chauvinistic men and courageous but still “gentle…men” Toxic masculinity is confronted head on by Boys to Men, one boy at a time.
